Socks Classes

Fiberworks is excited to be offering more sock knitting classes.  Please be sure to preregister and receive the materials list by calling the store at (937) 429 – YARN (9276) or stopping in.

We will be offering both Top-Down and Toe-Up Sock Classes on Saturday mornings from 10 am to noon.  Each session is $10.  Beginners will start with the top-down socks, while more experienced sock knitters will improve their skills with the toe-up socks.  Each method will use either double pointed needles, two circular needles, or Magic Loop, and knitters will learn the basics of knitting in the round, turning a heel, short rows and picking up stitches.

Tunisian Crochet Workshop

Fiberworks is please to announce a Tunisian Crochet workshop on Monday, May 14th, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.  Joanne Cole will demonstrate the technique as students work on a fun lacy scarf.  There will be no charge for the class, but students will be required to buy 2 balls of Mochi Plus and H and J Tunisian hooks, if they don’t already have them. Class limit: 10. Please call 429-9276 to register.

Dollmaking Class Series

Fiberworks is excited to be offering our Needle-Felted Dollmaking Class Series.  Please pre-register for each class by calling 937-429-YARN or stopping by Fiberworks.

Please note that some of the classes will be on Monday evenings at Panera Bread, near the Fairfield Commons Mall.  There will also be additional times scheduled to get together and work on the dolls as needed, at no charge.

Each classes is $20.  Material fees will vary with each doll.

Monday, April 16th, time TBA, at Panera – Planning the Doll – Join Esther at Panera for dinner, to discuss options for your doll and to plan for Thursday’s class.  Please pre-register to ensure there will be handouts for everyone.  There is no charge for this class.

Easter Holiday

Fiberworks will be closed this Sunday, April 8th for Easter.  We will be open at our regular hours for the rest of the week.

Classes

A quick update on our classes.  We are offering another sock knitting class and continue to offer our beginning knitting class.  Please be sure to preregister and receive the materials list by calling the store at (937) 429 – YARN (9276) or stopping in.

Top-Down Socks is being offered for beginning sock knitters with the Ten-Step Snug Socks pattern. Using either double pointed needles, two circular needles, or Magic Loop, knitters will learn the basics of knitting in the round, turning a heel, short rows and picking up stitches. The class is 4 sessions, on Saturdays from 10 to noon. The dates are March 24th, March 31th, April 7th* and April 14th. Cost is $40.

Beginning Knitting lessons are offered every Saturday from 2-4pm. Whether you’ve never knit a stitch in your life or you’re returning after a hiatus, this small class will help you become familiar with the craft. Each class is $10, come as often as you are able.

Note:  The April 7th Top-Down Socks class may be rescheduled if it conflicts with a majority of the class’s weekend plans.

We have a new ruffly scarf yarn called Flourish in four pastel spring colors.

A new Noro yarn, Ayatori, is new on our shelves – it’s 60% wool and 40% silk in eight fabulous Noro colorways.

Spring Needle Felting Classes

All needle felting classes are $20.  Any material fees are listed with the class description.

March 8th, 6pm – Felted Soap – Create a felted soap with merino wool and handmade soap from Woodland Spirits.  It’s like a soap wrapped in its own one-of-a-kind soft washcloth!  Materials fee: $5

March 15th, 6pm – Watercolor Inlay – Learn to make a pre-felt, needle felt a design, then finish off your piece with wet felting.  Depending on the size, you can use your felted design for a purse, a pillow, a greeting card, artistic trading cards, frame it….  Materials fee: $5

March 22nd, 6pm – Psycho Bunny Pin – Some bunny pins end up a little wild-eyed and have been dubbed “psycho bunnies.”  What will your bunny look like?

March 29th, 6pm – Fiberge Eggs – Needle felt an unbreakable Easter egg… no boiling, no vinegar smell, and they never rot!  These beautiful eggs are perfect for little ones!  Materials fee: $3

April 5th, 6pm – Embellisher Play – Bring your felting machine and learn new techniques.  Work on a combination of machine and wet felting.  There will be two extra machines available.

April 12th, 6pm – Embellisher Play – Bring your felting machine and learn new techniques.  The activities for this week will be determined by participants.  There will be two extra machines available.

March Knitting Classes

We are have two knitting classes for March.  Please be sure to preregister and receive the materials list by stopping in or calling the store at at (937) 429 – YARN (9276).

The Fun Fan Gauntlets are fingerless mitts that often remind people of dragon scales.  This three session class will show how to size the pattern to fit, working in the round, learning the “scale” pattern and working the pattern from a chart.  Classes are on Monday, March 12th, March 19th and March 26th.  The time is either from 2-4 PM or 6-8 PM.  Cost is $30.

Our second class, Ooops! Now What Do I Do?, will cover fixing common knitting mistakes, such as picking up a dropped stitch, changing knits to purls and purls to knits, making increases, fixing missed yarn overs and decreases.  There is homework for this class, so be sure to register early.  Class will meet on Friday, March 16th from 2 to 4 and costs $10.

Fun Fan Gauntlets Class Rescheduled

The Fun Fan Gauntlets class has been rescheduled to Monday, January 30, February 6 and February 13. Times are still either 2-4 PM or 6-8 PM. Please call or stop by the store to reserve your spot!
